crazy peopleWhenever I hear someone today refer to crazy people, I must admit to having an attack of relativity.  I wonder how anyone today can refer to anyone else as crazy people when the world itself seems to have gone mad.

Taking a look around America today, I see people desperately in need of health care and a health care for profit system that places their profit above the principle of healing.  There are insurance companies that instruct their adjustors to deny a claim unless the person calls in and points out that the item is actually covered.  Who are the crazy people there?

We are currently embroiled in a war in the Middle East against an enemy known only as a terrorist.  The reasons for going into said war have changed so often, it’s hard to keep track of which is the operative reason for the day.  There seems to be no end in sight for this conflict.  The large majority of Americans want the war to end.  Who are the crazy people there?

There are many Americans that have worked all their lives thinking they will have a nice pension and retirement at the end of their employment only to find out that the company has lost their retirement due to some investing error or outright fraud.  The workers see management get away with their stock options cashed in and are understandably upset.  Are they crazy people for getting upset?

We are seeing the rights guaranteed us by the Constitution and Bill of Rights slowly eroded in the name of national security and protection of the state from terrorists, but the original Patriot Act happened so swiftly after 9/11 that it makes one wonder if they had the document already written.  If someone even questions the dubious nature of the circumstances surrounding the “attack on America” and all the amazing coincidental failures of systems designed to protect us, they are branded a conspiracy nut.  Who’s the crazy person there?

We have seen the country we have grown up in and loved so dearly become embroiled in issues where our leaders have seeming lost their moral compass and we wonder what is going on here.  Are we crazy people for wondering what the truth is anymore?

We have people that hold life sacred at the moment of conception and yet once the children are born turn them loose into the world, many left to survive using their own devices.  Then we prepare them for war giving them video games to turn them into compassionless killing machines.  Who are the crazy people?

When somebody calls me crazy for questioning our government, a right guaranteed us in the Constitution, I consider that a compliment.  When someone calls me a conspiracy theorist, I remind them that the other side of the equation is a coincidence theorist and the mathematics are on my side.  Who is the crazy person now?
