Who Are The Real Crazy People? |

In a world that seems increasingly dominated by truly crazy people, wouldn’t it then follow that someone that those crazy people in power consider crazy, would actually be sane? Well as a member of that second group of disenfranchised crazy people, I have a really crazy suggestion, in other words, a very sane suggestion.
Our country is in dire need of someone that can fix the broken political processes that have overtaken us and I believe that person is Jesse Ventura. You may think I’m crazy, people, but listen up. He was the most popular Governor in the history of Minnesota. That shows that he was doing something right.
If Jesse Ventura is a man of his word and I believe that he is, the following ideas would likely be implemented during his presidency.
- End the income tax in favor of a sales tax.
- End pork-barrel spending; return surplus to the people.
- Return any budget surpluses to the taxpayers automatically.
- Respect diversity, both cultural and lifestyle.
- Opposes “Three Strikes”; leave discretion to judges.
- End the war on drugs since it has failed; look for other solutions.
- Fund schools at state level instead of via property taxes.
- Overcome dependency on foreign oil.
- Increase voluntary partnerships to reduce greenhouse gases economically.
- Open up, simplify, & demystify government.
- Help promote that government service should be temporary; not a career.
- Promote individual responsibility for healthy lifestyle choices.
- View social programs as a safety net, not a hammock.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I do not consider those the rantings of a crazy person. I happen to think those are the ideas of someone that is highly sane and can bring that kind of sanity to the presidency, something we have lacked for a while. These are the ideas of someone that is fed up with the antics of government and wants to bring responsibility back in vogue. What a concept!
Let’s face it, in 2004, the Democrats received overwhelming support from the American people and were swept into office for essentially one major issue, ending the war in Iraq. Have they done it?
As president Jesse Ventura would end the war in Iraq. In his interview with Larry King, he says the decision to go to war is an easy one. If the president would send his own son or daughter, then the war is justified. How many of the current Bush Administration have sent their own children to serve, let alone serve their country themselves?
I’d make one more suggestion to Jesse, okay it’s actually two rolled up into one. Return the minting of money to Congress as mandated by the Constitution and return to the gold standard. Whenever the Fed issues more money, they charge the government interest on that money. If the government issued their own money, that interest would vanish along with the major portion of our debt. With the gold standard in place, our currency would once again be backed by something other than thin air.
In conclusion, this crazy person thinks that it would be the height of sanity to elect Jesse Ventura president of the United States. He would return a sense of pride to America that has been missing for a very long time. Let’s face it, in a world gone mad, only the crazy people are the sane ones. Long live the crazy people.
