funny peopleOne of my favorite funny people passed away yesterday. I’m talking about the comedian George Carlin, who died of heart failure yesterday evening at the age of seventy-one. He had been admitted to hospital earlier in the day after complaining of pains in his chest.
The news of George Carlin’s death makes me feel rather sad. He was one of the funniest funny people in the United States. I loved his sense of humor and acerbic wit. Of course George Carlin could be crude at times. He deliberately pushed the boundaries. However, funny people are often controversial. It seems that many of the funniest comedians are rather shocking. Part of the reason we laugh at funny people is that you cannot quite believe that they have the gumption to say what they just said, despite the fact that they mention stuff that you were probably thinking in your head but didn’t dare articulate.
As far as I’m concerned, George Carlin was a legend among funny people. I understood his sense of humor perfectly. My husband and father both enjoyed him too. He will be sorely missed by fans all over the world.
