The Global Warming agenda is going into overdrive. Polar bears were put on the "threatened" species list under the "Endangered Species Act "yesterday. That's right "threatened".
Secretary of the Interior Kempthorne stated, "While the legal standards under the ESA compel me to list the polar bear as threatened, I want to make clear that this listing will not stop global climate change or prevent any sea ice from melting. Any real solution requires action by all major economies for it to be effective. That is why I am taking administrative and regulatory action to make certain the ESA isn't abused to make global warming policies."
Interior spokesman Hugh Vickery, the "endangered" designation is based less on the actual number of bears in Alaska than on "projections into the future," Mr. Vickery said, adding that these "projection models" are "tricky business." This designation is based more on projected numbers of animals, not an actual numbers.
There are more polar bears in the world now than there were 40 years ago.The main threat to polar bears in recent decades has been from hunting, with estimates as low as 5,000 to 10,000 bears in the 1950s and 1960s. But thanks to conservation efforts, and some cross-border cooperation among the U.S., Canada and Russia, the best estimate today is that the polar bear population is 20,000 to 25,000."
The state of Alaska has real problems with this listing.
It would likely put an end to any chances of opening up a small portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), estimated to contain 10 billion barrels of oil—nearly 15 years worth of current imports from Saudi Arabia. This would impact Alaska's economy and limit the actual money that could be used to protect the polar bears through lack of funding to their successful environmental programs.
The Real Agenda is Not the Polar Bears
Environmentalism is nothing less than the global elitists' replacement ideology for communism/socialism. With communism largely discredited today – after all, 100-150 million people died at the hands of communist "visionaries" during the last century – elitists who desire to rule other people's lives have gravitated to an even more powerful ideology. Thus, while scientists and climatologists who dare to question the rigid orthodoxy of man-made catastrophic global warming are openly ridiculed and threatened with decertification, the movement for a one world government, complete with global taxation, is moving into the fast lane.
