Outspoken Media is an advocacy charity focused on freedom of speech in the media. Founded in August 1998 Outspoken Media fundraises, campaigns and builds awareness concerning freedom of speech issues worldwide. Bill Jackson, founder has noted enormous differences and inequalities in media freedom between different social classes, in America and abroad. Outspoken Media has sponsored literacy programs, publishing platforms and media education for thousands of people around the world.
Their base of operations is in Auburn, Alabama, with volunteers in eighteen different countries and across four continents. Their mission is simple, reduce inequality in all forms of publications and educate people who lack the ability to make themselves heard.
Outspoken Media believes that education is a far more powerful than lobbying and proactive attempts to empower people are far more effective than trying to lobby a whats-in-it-for me bureaucracy.
In 2002 they experienced their first major success helping to bring online publishing information to four underprivileged Atlanta high schools. Outspoken Media has worked with individuals and organizations from China to Mississippi. They rely on the generosity of others to achieve their goals. Donations of time, money or media coverage are welcomed. Contact.
